Beijing: China's space activities have sidelined NASA. The head of the space agency, Bill Nelson, has now issued a warning that Red Dragon is targeting resource-rich areas of the Moon.

Nelson acknowledged that the US and China are competing in space. His comments come after NASA's productive Artemis-1 mission, a precursor to the organization's plan to establish a long-term human presence on the Moon.

The head of NASA worries that China could push America off the Moon. It seems a bit over the top coming from the leader of the most important space agency in the world, don't you think?

Even though it sounds improbable, considering how fast China is moving, it is not impossible. However, Nelson's remarks reflect the American attitude towards Russia at the time of the Cold War.

Former Senator Nelson claimed that China is trying to control the Moon.

"And it's true that we have to be careful to prevent them from traveling to the Moon under the pretext of doing scientific research. And it's not impossible that they could declare, "Stay out, we're here, this is our territory." he added.

Nelson used China's actions in the South China Sea to make his point. The Chinese government has consistently maintained an aggressive stance in disputes involving the South China Sea, claiming sovereignty over other countries' territories.

He said of the disputed archipelago, "If you doubt it, look at what they did to the Spratly Islands."

NASA may be at the forefront of the space industry race, but China's aggressive space program has begun to cast doubt on NASA's supremacy.
