Leh: The tension between India and China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) has remained intact for the last month. Meanwhile, there are reports that China has withdrawn its troops 2 km from the Galvan Valley. With this, China has reduced its camp even earlier. Even though China has retraced its steps on the Galvan Valley, but there is still conflict between the two Asian countries over Penang Lake.

According to the report of the Indian Express, China's encroachment across the Line of Actual Control in Galvan and Hot Spring in Eastern Ladakh surprised India. Unlike Pangong Tso, these areas had none of the 23 contested areas identified by the government through various mechanisms. This is because India first accepted the concept of LAC in 1993.

11 out of 23 contested areas were identified at LAC in Ladakh under the Western sector. Apart from this, four were identified as Middle Sector and 8 as Eastern Sector. The exchange of maps for the middle sector in 2000 and the comparison of maps for the western sector in 2002, during a meeting between the two sides at several meetings of the India-China Joint Working Groups (JWG) in the 1990s, covered most of these areas. By the action of the Chinese Army on the ground, six areas were identified, which India has registered.
