Washington: América has announced a visa ban on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials on Friday. The US has accused them of violating the fundamental rights of human and freedom in Hong Kong. On Saturday, China has strongly opposed the US decision to impose visa restrictions on Chinese authorities on issues related to Hong Kong.

China said that it will continue to take strong steps to maintain national security. However, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced, saying he had followed President Donald Trump's orders. Pompeo stated that "Today, I am announcing visa restrictions on current and former CCP officers. In relation to whom they are believed to be responsible for reducing Hong Kong's high level of autonomy as a Sino-British joint manifesto in 1984 or as a guarantee of human rights and fundamental freedoms." Pompeo has said that the family of such people can also come under this ban.

Relations with the US and China have deteriorated since the coronavirus infection spread throughout the world. China's security law for Hong Kong prompted Trump to begin the process of ending the Special Economic Package that allowed Hong Kong to remain a global financial centre.
