Beijing, On Thursday, China extended congratulations to Nepal's newly-elected Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said, "China, as Nepal's close and friendly neighbour, stands ready to make joint efforts with Nepal to implement various agreements and expand mutually beneficial cooperation".

China will push forward the bilateral comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring ever-lasting friendship, she added.

Prachanda was elected the 39th prime minister of Nepal Prime Minister on Wednesday.

Dahal received 363 votes in favour with 210 voting against him out of total 573 votes cast in the 595-member house.
