Islamabad: A Chinese engineer has been arrested in Pakistan. The engineer is accused of insulting Allah, after which the Muslim mob protested fiercely. The crowd was even ready to kill him. It is alleged that he committed blasphemy in a workplace dispute. The engineer is posted at the Chinese company 'Gezhouba Group'. He was working on the Dasu Hydropower Project. He was arrested on Sunday (April 16, 2023) evening.

The engineer was caught in a camp located 350 kilometres from Islamabad. The police say that no serious situation should arise, which is why this action was taken. This incident is from Kohistan village, in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Muslim workers working on the project accused the engineer of insulting Allah. After this, the road was blocked. A large number of Muslim crowds had gathered outside the Chinese camp as well. In fact, the work had slowed down during Ramadan, so the engineer had advised the workers to speed up the work.

Just a few miles away is the Karakoram Highway, the only highway connecting Pakistan to China, but the crowd blocked that too. This area falls in the Himalayas. After this incident, the safety of other Chinese citizens working there has also been questioned. A situation involving riots had arisen. Now a decision will be made at the meeting of the local Maulanas about whether to file a case with the police or not. Pakistan there is a provision for the death penalty for blasphemy. Earlier, a Sri Lankan factory manager was burned alive by the mob here on the same charge.
