Chitrakoot is known mainly because of its association with Ramayana.
It also plays host to a number of fairs and festivals throughout the year. It is a haven for pilgrims, wanderers, explorers and the historically inclined.
Chitrakoot Dham (Karwi) is district headquarters and a municipal board in Chitrakoot district in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
How to reach there:-
1. By Air:- The nearest airports are Allahabad (135 kms from Chitrakoot), Khajuraho( 175 kms) and Varanasi (275 kms). These airports have daily flight services to Delhi.
2. By Train:- Nearest Railway station from Chitrakoot is Karwi at a distance of 8Km which is essentially the Chitrakoot town itself. There is a direct train from New Delhi as well apart from trains from nearby cities like Lucknow.
3. By Road:- State-owned buses are available from Allahabad, Banda, Kanpur, Satna and Jhansi to reach Chitrakoot. One can also take taxi from Delhi airport to Chitrakoot.
