LOS ANGELES: In the Netflix series "Wednesday," actress Christina Ricci, who plays the intriguing new character Marilyn Thornhill, discussed how a world tragedy affected the series' production.
When E! News asked Ricci about any "tales from set," the actress said that on February 24, when the group was filming in Romania, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an invasion of Ukraine.
Ricci exclusively told eonline.com, "We were seven miles from that power facility that almost was the nuclear power plant that almost exploded.
"So, there was some tension. However, we all connected over how quickly our government would remove us if something bizarre occurred." The movie "Wednesday" was filmed in Bucharest, Romania, from September 2021 to March 2022.
Famously, Ricci portrayed Wednesday Addams in the 1991 film "The Addams Family" and its 1993 follow-up, "Addams Family Values." She is now passing the torch to Jenna Ortega, who will play Wednesday when she enrols in Nevermore Academy, which is described in the series teaser as a "safe haven" for even the freakiest supernatural kids.
Ricci claimed that Ortega was able to step into the position without any coaching.
She is really a skilled mature actress, the celebrity said.
"She doesn't require my instructions on how to accomplish anything. She is very amazing."
