New Delhi: A case of insult to the national flag at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has come to light. A man named Mohammad Tariq Aziz was handed over to the Delhi Police by the CISF after he was detained for standing on the Tricolour and offering Namaaz. The incident took place on May 8, 2022. But now the matter has come into the media.

According to media reports, the accused, Tariq Aziz, had reached Delhi from Dubai. From here he had to catch an IndiGo Airlines flight to Dimapur. In the meantime, he stood on it at the Delhi airport itself by spreading the national flag on the ground. It was on the tricolour that he started praying. All this was going on between the airport's boarding gate number 1 and 3. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), deployed in the security of the airport, found Tariq Aziz's actions suspicious. They caught Tariq and handed him over to the Delhi Police. During the interrogation, the accused could not give satisfactory answers to the questions. The police then registered a case against Tariq under the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971.

In police checking, his passport, photocopy of the boarding pass and national flag have been found from Tariq Aziz. The police confiscated it. According to DCP Metro Jitendra Mani, Aziz was served a notice under Section 41 of CrPC, after which he was released. This notice is given when the arrest of an accused is not required. In the notice, an order is given to appear before the police officer, failing which there will be a provision for the arrest of the accused.
