NEW DELHI: According to a municipal report released on Monday, there have been over 150 dengue cases reported in New Delhi so far this year, including at least 10 cases in July. The sickness had been reported in 143 instances in the city as of July 2.

According to the report, Delhi saw 23 dengue cases in January, 16 in February, 22 in March, 20 in April, 30 in May, and 32 in June. Ten more cases were registered as of July 9, the report added.
Up until July 9, there have been 153 dengue cases registered in the national capital this year.

According to a report from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, there have been no reports of disease-related deaths up to this point. In Delhi, there were 38 dengue cases registered between January 1 and July 9 of last year. According to the research, the equivalent numbers were 22, 27, 36, and 77 in 2020, 2019 and 2018, respectively.
The reporting period for cases of vector-borne illnesses typically runs from July to November, although it may go as late as mid-December. The favourable conditions for mosquito breeding earlier this year led to an early occurrence of dengue cases. The national capital saw the largest number of dengue cases (9,613) since 2015 and the highest number of deaths (23), both since 2016. There were 10 disease-related deaths in the city in 2016.  In 2019, there were two dengue-related deaths in Delhi. In 2018, there were four and ten.

In Delhi, 4,431 dengue cases were reported in 2016, 4,726 in 2017, 2,798 in 2018, 2,036 in 2019, and 1,072 in 2020, according to government data. The city experienced a significant dengue outbreak in 2015, with more than 10,000 cases reported in the month of October alone. The dengue outbreak in Delhi was the worst since 1996.
