New Delhi: A CBI probe has been granted against former Chief Justice Vijaya K. Tahilramani of the Madras High Court, who resigned after an order of the Supreme Court Collegium some time ago. The CJI has given the green signal for a CBI inquiry against her.

Tahilramani resigned after she was transferred to the Meghalaya High Court. According to sources, following her resignation, the Intelligence Bureau has submitted a five-page report. The report mentions alleged irregularities in property transactions and some administrative decisions taken by Justice Tahilramani as Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.

Tahilramani submitted her resignation on September 6, after the collegium rejected the demand for re-consideration. President Ram Nath Kovind has accepted the resignation of Justice Tahilramani. The central government has said in the notification released on Friday that Tahilramani's resignation is accepted. Vineet Kothari, the second senior-most judge of the Madras High Court, has been appointed as acting Chief Justice following the resignation of Justice Tahilramani.
