CJI remembers Nehru on Constitution Day, know what Chief Justice said?

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud recalled the speech of the country's first PM Jawaharlal Nehru on the occasion of Constitution Day on Saturday. Regarding this, the CJI said that the past is still attached to us to some extent and we have a lot to do to fulfill those promises. Let us tell you that this speech was given by Nehru on the night of independence, which is known as 'Tryst with Destiny.'

Let us inform you that, on Constitution Day, a special program was organized in the Supreme Court in the presence of CJI Chandrachud, PM Narendra Modi, and Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, among others. Talking about the time before and after independence, CJI Chandrachud mentioned the struggle of Jawaharlal Nehru and said that he was the first person to lay the foundation of the Constitution of a Marginalized Community. The CJI also recalled the statement of Martin Luther King Jr., in which he had said that 'the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.'

At the same time, on this occasion, PM Modi said that in such a situation, when the country is moving towards the centenary of its independence, the first priority of the citizens should be to follow the fundamental duties to take the country to greater heights. Addressing the Constitution Day celebrations at the Supreme Court, PM Modi said that the whole world is looking towards India which is achieving rapid development and economic growth.
