Agartala: A clash broke out between workers of the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress in Agartala town of Tripura on Saturday. Several party workers, including Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman, were injured. The administration imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) on Friday evening to control the uncontrollable situation. TSR and CRPF personnel are patrolling the city to keep the law and order situation under control.

The same BJP general secretary Tinku Roy, vice-president Rajiv Bhattacharjee, general secretary Papai Dutta and other senior leaders of the saffron party lashed out at the local police demanding the arrest of congress supporters. The rally was also attended by Tripura's Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushant Chaudhary and claimed that when the peaceful rally of the Bhartiya Janata Party reached near Congress Bhavan, Some anti-social elements hiding inside the Congress Building hurled petrol bombs at them.

The minister said his main aim is to create unrest in the state and bring the CPIM back to power. But we have to keep in mind that the people suffered for 25 years and after that, this government was formed. He claimed that Congress and the CPI(M) are now in an alliance to overthrow the ruling alliance. Chowdhury also alleged that the CPI(M) had sent its party workers to support Congress. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in Agartala town immediately.
