While the government is giving full emphasis on 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', the plastic bottles and banana peels were being scattered after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address at the Red Fort ground. In the enclosures where children and common people were sitting, only a few minutes after the ceremony was concluded, the stacks of plastic, water bottles could be seen. This signalled the absence of arrangements for garbage boxes in the 17th century Mughal memorial, Red Fort.

Instead of the dustbin, some cartons of cardboard were used which were filled until top and the children had to throw garbage on the ground. Namita Shrivastav, the teacher who came to the ceremony with the students said, "It is astonishing that there was no bins for throwing bottles and other garbage while the Prime Minister put a lot of emphasis on cleanliness."

Teacher Rashmi said that the entire area seemed to be the place to throw garbage. She did not understand why he did not make proper arrangements to throw garbage. Students had been given refreshments with banana, chips after the program and they (students) threw their garbage as the dustbin were not present. To combat pollution, the government has also pledged to completely stop the use of plastic by 2022.
