Closing Bell: Markets settle marginally higher on fag-end buying

Key benchmark indices managed to close in the green on Weekended Friday, with the Sensex gaining more than 59 points, despite fag-end volatility wiping out the majority of the day's gains. The BSE Sensex rose by 59.15 points, or 0.10 percent to close at At 58,833.87. It increased by 546.93 points or 0.93 percent to 59,321.65 throughout the day.

The broader Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) advanced 36.45 points or 0.21 percent to end at 17,558.90.
Foreign fund inflows and a generally positive trend in global markets supported the bourses, according to traders.

Among the leading winners from the Sensex pack were NTPC, Titan, Power Grid, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, and Mahindra & Mahindra. On the other hand, the main laggards were IndusInd Bank, HDFC, Asian Paints, and Bharti Airtel.

international Markets: Asia's markets saw gains in Seoul, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, while losses were recorded in Shanghai. During mid-session trades, stock markets in Europe were trading lower. On Thursday, Wall Street closed off the day higher.

In the meantime, the benchmark Brent crude price increased globally by 1.14 percent to USD 100.5 per barrel. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares on Thursday totaling a net 369.06 crore.
