KAI “Verse” Tyler or “Cloth” as some of his closest associates tend to call him. 25yrs in the music business but the last 15 most spent in “THE BUSINESS OF MUSIC “ as he tends to go back to this coined phrase often throughout various music conversations.

The founder and CEO of The Luxury Group which hosts some of the most current and greatest producers and writers in the business. And whom have ravished the billboard, and streaming charts alike in one of the most economically and socially devastating years in our existence in the year of 2020. Including selling over 9million GLOBAL copies of Latin rap sensation ANUEL AA most recent effort : EMMANUEL . Which production efforts were set ablaze by Multi-Platinum, Grammy nominated production duo PRIORITY BEATS. Along with garnering a GOLD AND PLATINUM award while landing a billboard Top 10 record with LIL DURK “3 Headed Goat” single which was Produced by Platinum hit maker and super producer CICERO out of the 808 Mafia camp. Between those trophies , CLOTH managed to garner a few more platinum chart topping projects (along with 2 Grammy nominations)including producing on LIL BABY multiple platinum LP “MY TURN” )2x platinum, and POLO G’s recent effort “GOAT” which sold over a million copies as well! Both produced by PRIORITY BEATS.

While being sort of what some would call the “Go to “ guy for the “RECORDS” not the “SONGS” . Tyler managed to negotiate multiple major label and publishing partnerships with both the recently re-branded “Sony Music Publishing” as well as Kobalts record label arm “AWAL” which was recently partnered and acquired by Sony Music . As well as Empires newly formed Publishing arm. By bringing super producer MOOKTOVEN whom has crafted multiple platinum records and cemented the sounds of the likes of rap stars LIL KEED & LIL GOT IT. Along with crafting top streaming records for PEEWEE LONGWAY and MONEYMAN his sound sets the stage for ALL THINGS CURRENT “TRAP”. “The relationships” is what “cloth” says is the nucleus to any successful music exec with any “motion”. In the front or behind the scenes..... “RELATIONSHIPS” are worth more then any dollar amount” he says.

I come from humble beginnings, he says as he points out he was raised in upper middle class New Jersey. But couldn’t stay away from “The Brick City” (Newark , NJ) even after we moved “UP THE HILL” . “I know my run ins and ups and downs is what shaped me to be the man I am today” . I give a lot of my music creativity homage to being raised in a house full of “them tunes“ growing up he says. I started out playing the saxophone, studying the entire Kenny G debut album “Duotones” until I was able to play it myself for my mother from front to back” that’s why I feel my ear is tuned different and knowing the contrast between a “song “ and a “record“ will make or break your existence in this business.

I went from being a Sax player, to a Dj and rapper doing my own beats. Went to college for music and “audio theory” I was so infatuated with the “art of sound” he points out. “I had my first deal on the table with def jam/def soul back in 1999. But once again my allure for the streets got my attention. But shout out to Jojo Brim for believing early you heard “ he jokingly mocks. “But seriously, he says “Had it not been for my early mentorship from Diamond D (DITC) and Industry veteran exec and founder of Akon Bernard Alexander , I promise you I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. Accolade wise , financially, knowledge or music wise if it had not been for those guys early on “ he seriously makes the statement. “diamond d taught me really how to construct a real rap record and Bernard showed me exactly how and who to deal with in this business of music, and for that I’m forever indebted. He says. “Bernard helped me get my first 500k check, he didn’t have to bring me on to the mindless behavior project but he did and that’s a whole other interview”. He points out.

2021 is filled with a whole lot of more wins as “Cloth” turn up the notch a few more clicks so to speak. With a newly formed partnership with Indy powerhouse ISLAND PROLIFIC and placements across the board from rap to country music. Mr. Tyler aka “CLOTHTALK” as some may call him is set to have an even bigger record year with a winning assortment of talent. Alabama artists XAY CAPISCE as well as LIL BAM whom he is partnered with Indy label MBK4L are setting the tone in the south!! And with “CLOTHTALK” and a team of winning producers , it’s hard to lose. “It’s all about the timing and the people” he says. The quality of the music sits somewhere in the middle when I hear a lot of today’s people championed “stars “ . But the difference with me and anybody I work with. THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT COMES FIRST!!! And that goes for us industry execs and managers too! Always remember “Good dope sell itself , you just got to be outside to give it to the people” he says with a laugh in closing.
