Chamoli: A big news has come from the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. In fact, the clouds have burst here today, which has led to flood situation. According to information received, tents of laborers working for Border Roads Organization (BRO) in Pangati village of Narayanbagar block of Chamoli have also been flooded in the incident. The SDRF team is now rescueing the labourers. At the same time, no casualties have been reported so far. Let me tell all of you that the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway was disrupted near Uma Maheshwar Ashram (Karnprayag) for nearly eight hours due to landslides from the hill earlier.

The debris was removed by installing machines at night, though the hill yam and traffic have been stopped again at night. Around 200 vehicles are said to be stranded since the landslide. Pilgrims and others are staying in nearby hotels as the highway does not open at night. Last Saturday and Sunday, landslides from a hill near Uma Maheshwar Ashram in Karnprayag brought debris to the highway, trapping vehicles going to Karnprayag, Rudraprayag, Srinagar and nearby areas including Badrinath, Joshimath, Chamoli, Gopeshwar.

The road is said to have been opened late at night. On the other hand, on Allweather Road, several new landslide zones are being reported from Srinagar to Lambgarh on Badrinath Highway during the rainy season, the largest of which is visible near Uma Maheshwar Ashram.
