New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today introduced the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Simplification) Bill, 2020 and the Farmers ( Empowerment and Protection) Agreement Bill, 2020 on Price Assurance and Agricultural Services bill, 2020 in the upper house of Parliament. These bills are going to revolutionize the lives of farmers, Tomar said. The opposition parties are strongly opposing the bills.
Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has also opposed the bills and urged non-BJP parties to vote for them in the upper house. In a tweet, Arvind Kejriwal wrote, "Today farmers across the country are eyeing the Rajya Sabha. The BJP is in minority in the Rajya Sabha. I appeal to all the non-BJP parties to defeat all these three bills together, which is what the farmers of the country want."
Former UP CM and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati had also opposed the agricultural bills before CM Kejriwal. Mayawati had said that two bills relating to farmers have been passed in the Lok Sabha without removing all their doubts. The BSP does not agree with him at all. What does the farmer of the entire country want? It would be better if the central government should pay attention to this.
