Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai, along with Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Revenue Minister R Ashok, South Bengaluru MP Tejaswi Surya, and Housing Minister V Somanna inaugurated a new 7.5-kilometer metro line in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The planned purple metro line will connect the metro stations of Nayanda Halli and Kengeri. This section's development began in February 2016 and will be completed in August 2021. Passengers will be able to use the metro starting August 30. All the stations are provided with entry and exits opening onto the newly provided service road. The service roadways are designated with bus bays, taxi and auto pick-up, and drop-off zones. All facilities, such as ramps, lifts, separate bathrooms, tactile routing, and designated space on trains, are given for differently-abled people, according to Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation.

According to BMRC, a 2-kilometer expansion from Kengeri to Challaghatta metro is expected to be completed by March 2022, giving Bengaluru a total of 56 kilometers of the metro with 51 stations.
