Chandigarh: Dr Manohar Singh, brother of CM Charanjeet Singh Channi, who announced that he will contest from Bassi Pathana seat in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab, has attacked state president Navjot Singh Sidhu. Announcing that he would contest as an independent candidate, Dr Manohar said, "I had demanded a ticket on merit. As the brother of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjeet Singh Channi, I did not make any demand. But it was ignored by the High Command. Dr. Manohar Singh Channi said, "I have decided to come out of here independently because people want it.

Hitting out at the same Navjot Singh Sidhu, Dr Manohar Channi said that the high command was misled about me. That is why such a situation arose. Navjot Singh Sidhu is one of the leaders who announced the ticket to the present MLA in Bassi Pathania without the permission of the high command. People are disappointed that I have not got a ticket. Moreover, one of the reasons for the anger of the people is that the one who has got the ticket has not done any work in the area. Dr Manohar said, "I am not fighting Sidhu or the Congress, but I am fighting the people's battle.

The chief minister's brother said that I had tried to convince Channi that what had happened was not right. I still respect the High Command. Dr Manohar also attacked the Congress for implementing the one family, one ticket formula. He said there have been several occasions in the past when two people from the same family have been given tickets in the Congress. But it is unfortunate that I was ignored.
