Amritsar: Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday urged PM Narendra Modi to order an independent probe into the allegations levelled by Dr Kumar Vishwas against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. In fact, Kumar Vishwas, who was a member of AAP, had made a big claim that Kejriwal was ready to take the support of separatist elements to get the chair of Punjab CM during the 2017 assembly elections.

Kumar had claimed that Kejriwal had even said that he would either become the CM of Punjab or the first PM of an independent nation (a clear reference to Khalistan). On Thursday, the Additional Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab had issued a controversial letter restraining media houses, political parties and their representatives from publishing the interview of Kumar Vishwas. However, the letter was soon withdrawn by the chief electoral officer.

CM Charanjit Singh Channi later urged PM Modi to order an impartial probe into the claims made by Kumar Vishwas, saying the people of Punjab have paid a heavy price for separatism. CM Channi said, "As the Chief Minister of Punjab, I urge PM  Modi Ji to order a fair probe into the video of Kumar Vishwas Ji. Politics is on one side. The people of Punjab have paid a heavy price while fighting separatism. The Hon'ble PM needs to address the concern of every Punjabi.''
