CM discusses the issues related to Polavaram project and connectivity to canals with officials

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed the irrigation projects in the state at Tadepalli camp office on Friday. In the review meeting, the CM reviewed the Veligonda project and directed the officials to expedite the work on the second tunnel. Officials said that the genealogy phase-II work would be completed by next May. Officials said water would be provided by Kharif falling under Thotapalli barrage. The CM discussed the issues related to the Polavaram project, the lower copper dam works and connectivity to the canals. Officials said the canals are ready for irrigation by next kharif.

Officials on the occasion said that the work of Nellore barrage has been completed and is ready for inauguration in November. Officials said that significant progress has been made in the construction of the tunnel which will be completed by next August and water will be made available. On the other hand, CM Jagan also reviewed the R&R works. The officials told CM Jagan that the state owes more than Rs 2,033 crore from the Centre. CM Jagan told the officials that the central fund should be released at the earliest.

CM Jagan directed the officials to take steps for construction of barrage at Neradi and suggested that steps be taken for dialogue with the state of Odisha. And he directed the officials to focus on the construction of the Mahendratanaya project and furthermore he asked for regulatory construction work in the Godavari and Krishna delta in Kolleru. He asked to focus on expansion of Thandwa project, construction of barrage on Krishna river. Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav, new CS Sameer Sharma, Irrigation Secretary Shyamala Rao and senior officers were present in this program.
