The Election Commission has sent its opinion on the allegations of holding an office of profit. Governor Ramesh Bais will leave Delhi at 12 noon and reach Ranchi at around 2 pm. The BJP has alleged that Hemant Soren had allotted a stone mining lease to himself. He called it corrupt practice. The Bharatiya Janata Party had demanded the termination of Hemant Soren's membership citing Section 9A of the Office of Profit and Representation of the People Act 1951. Because Hemant has the charge of mining and forest minister in the state cabinet.

In fact, Shivshankar Sharma, who works for the Right to Information (RTI), had filed two Public interest litigations demanding an inquiry into the mining scam by the CBI and the ED. It is alleged that Hemant Soren has misused his position to get stone quarry mines allotted in his name. The Soren family is also accused of amassing wealth by investing in a shell company. The JMM, which is running the government in Jharkhand, is now also negotiating an alternative to Hemant Soren. It is being said that the chief minister's post will remain in the Soren family. The BJP had claimed a few days ago that Hemant could compel his wife Kalpana Soren's name as an alternative.
