Ranchi: On December 9th, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended an event in Pathargama, Godda. While addressing beneficiaries of various state government schemes, the CM asked the girls present if they received money to buy a cycle. The girls responded with a 'No,' visibly embarrassing the Chief Minister. A video capturing this incident quickly went viral on social media.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren had participated in the 'Aapki Yojana, Aapki Sarkar, Aapke Dwar' program organized in Pathargama. During the interaction with children and beneficiaries, Soren inquired whether the girls had received money for bicycles under the state scheme. The girls responded negatively, prompting Hemant Soren to question the officer on stage about the reason for not providing bicycle funds. The response indicated that the money was being sent to the girls' accounts. Hemant Soren then inquired if the girls were benefiting from the Savitribai Phule scheme of the state government, and once again, the emphatic response was 'No.' The video of this exchange gained widespread attention on social media.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared the video on its official social media platform, X, accusing Hemant Soren of making hollow promises. In their caption, the BJP stated, "The hollow promises of the false government have been exposed. The daughters of Jharkhand exposed Hemant Soren’s false promises in front of him." BJP State President Babulal Marandi also shared the video, claiming that the CM removed it from the official platform to hide corruption in the state.

In response, Hemant Soren clarified in the video that only those who had already received money under the Savitribai Phule scheme would continue to benefit, and there was no provision for additional funds for other children. Regarding the money for the cycle, the CM explained that it would be directly transferred to the accounts and would not be provided on the spot.
