GUNTUR: YSR Yantra Seva Scheme was launched on Tuesday by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who flagged off a mammoth distribution of tractors and combine harvesters at Chuttugunta Centre in Guntur district.

Rythu Bharosa Centres (RBKs) around the state are receiving 3,800 tractors and 320 combination harvesters. As part of the initiative, the chief minister transferred a subsidy of Rs 175 crore into 5,260 farmer group bank accounts through DBT.

He said the government will provide a 40% subsidy and loans for 50% of the machinery's cost, with the farmer's organisation covering the remaining 10%. The government is committed to farmer welfare, claiming that 10,750 RBKs have been brought in to help farmers from seed to sale, as well as farm equipment such as tractors and harvesters, he added.

The chief minister mentioned that 10,750 YSR Yantra Seva Centres will be set up at each RBK level costing Rs 2,016 cr 1,615 harvesters will be made available at cluster level where the paddy cultivation will be high.

Digging at the previous government, Jagan said that no tractors were handed to farmers under the TDP's control, except via the use of scams in the name of the plan. The Chief minster said, his government has implemented the system in a transparent manner, under which farmers can choose from 175 tractor types and the government would pay the subsidy.
