Patna: Electric buses will start operating in Bihar from today. In the first phase, 12 electric buses will be operational. Apart from these electric buses, CM Nitish Kumar will flag off a total of 82 buses from Samvad Bhavan. State Deputy CM Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi, Transport Minister Sheela Kumari will also be present on the occasion.
Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal has informed that buses are being launched to provide affordable, accessible, accessible, safe, and state-of-the-art transport service to the people. Of these, 15 luxury, 25 deluxe, and 30 cm deluxe buses are being operated on 43 different routes in Bihar. With the commencement of the operation of these buses, there will be connectivity to the capital from all 38 districts of the state. The journey from district and block headquarters to Delhi will be very easy. A total of 25 electric buses will start operating on the Patna Municipal Bus Service and various routes in Bihar by the last week of March.
For the operation of the buses, 15 electric buses of 9 m length and 10 electric buses of 12 m length are being received on the OPEX model. So far, 12 buses have been received by the corporation. These buses will be operated on various routes of Patna-Rajgir, Patna-Muzaffarpur, and Patna Municipal Services. The remaining buses will be received by 15 March.
