Patna: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar slams BJP MLA Hari Bhushan Thakur for demanding to rename of Bakhtiarpur district. Bakhtiarpur city is about 50 kilometres away from the capital Patna. Talking to the media after the 'CM in the People's Court' program, Nitish Kumar, when asked about the BJP MLA's demand to change the name of Bakhtiarpur to 'Nitish Nagar', said, 'It is nonsense, why will Bakhtiarpur be renamed. My place of birth is Bakhtiarpur. Some people keep talking about Bakhtiarpur without meaning.'

At the same time, he further said that once a member of Parliament had said that the one who abolished Nalanda University had a camp in Bakhtiarpur. This time, a man born in the same Bakhtiarpur has rebuilt Nalanda University.

Similarly, BJP MLA Hari Bhushan Thakur had recently said that since Bakhtiarpur is the birthplace of CM, it should be renamed as 'Nitish Nagar'. BJP MLA had said that Bakhtiarpur has been named after Qutabuddin Aibak's military general Bakhtiyar Khilji who abolished the famous Nalanda University. Khilji was a robber so the name of the city should be changed.
