New Delhi: The 7th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog was held at the Cultural Centre of Rashtrapati Bhavan under the chairmanship of PM Narendra Modi on Thursday. The meeting was attended by most of the State and Union Territory CMs. In the meeting, chief ministers of different states presented their problems to the Prime Minister. In the wake of the meeting, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel urged for revision in the royalty rate of major minerals including coal in the meeting. He also raised the issue of GST compensation. Baghel appealed for the continuation of the GST compensation grant for the next 5 years even after June 2022.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the state is losing revenue due to the GST tax system. He also demanded reimbursement of expenditure of 12,000 crore rupees on central security forces deployed for Naxal eradication.
What else did Chief Minister Baghel say in the meeting?
- Demanded to increase the participation of the states in the Central Taxes. He said that the pressure on the resources of the states has increased.
- Baghel demanded the return of the deposits in the New Pension Scheme in the interest of the employees.
Let us tell you that Telangana CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) had boycotted the meeting. Apart from this, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar also did not attend the meeting. KCR had boycotted on many issues. He said- I do not find it necessary to attend the 7th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. The Center sided with the states. and does not participate in the collective effort to make India a strong and developed country. KCR has written a letter giving the reason for not coming to the meeting.
