Visakhapatnam:Many districts of Andhra Pradesh have suffered a lot due to heavy rains and floods. State CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has urged the Central government to provide interim relief of Rs 1000 crore. CM Reddy has written to PM Narendra Modi urging him to give immediate sanction of Rs 1,000 crore as interim relief.

It has also urged to appoint an inter-ministerial central team to assess the damage in the areas affected by heavy rains and floods. According to information, CM Reddy has said that the total estimate of crop damage and infrastructure damage is around Rs 6,054.29 crore. He said that the southern part of the state suffered heavy rains due to pressure in the Bay of Bengal from November 13 to 20.

According to reports, heavy rains caused floods in several areas of Nellore, Kadapa, Anantapuramu and Chittoor districts, as well as many villages and cities. People's houses were submerged. The NDRF team continued to rescue the flood victims and take them to safer places. On the other hand, the water level of Pennar river rose considerably due to release of water from Somsilla dam which flooded various areas of Nellore district. The lower areas around the Pennar river were filled with water.
