Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday asserted that the Goa state has a high crime detection rate and that no criminal goes unpunished.

Sawant was replying to a question from reporters about an alleged rape of a British woman near the Arambol beach in the North Goa district.

On Monday, the woman filed a police report, and the same day, a 32-year-old local man was detained in the case.
According to Sawant, Goa's crime detection rate is "extremely high," and no criminal is allowed to go free. "We have been able to apprehend criminals very immediately after the detection of crimes," he said.

The accused in the rape of the British woman was also arrested immediately and is currently behind bars.

According to the woman's complaint, the accused assaulted her on June 2 at Arambol beach while pretending to give her a massage.
