First Monday of Sawan: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan arrives at Mahakal Temple

Ujjain: Today is the first Monday of Sawan, where the Mahakal temple in Ujjain has been witnessing a huge rush of visitors since morning. Here, devotees entered the temple, dropping barricades to pay obeisance to Baba Mahakal. Yes, the entry was free till 11 a.m. and after that the entry of devotees into the temple was stopped. Now, at 4 pm, the Mahakal ride will take place today. Devotees will be able to visit again from 7 pm to 9 pm.

The temple gates opened at 3 am this morning and bhasma aarti took place. In the same aarti, the common devotees did not get entry, only the panda-priests remained in the sanctum sanctorum. Now many big leaders and MLAs were also coming for darshan today and now they have started arriving. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has reached Ujjain to pay obeisance to mahakal. He will leave for Bhopal after performing puja at the temple. CM Chauhan was coming to Ujjain by helicopter but his schedule was changed due to bad weather. He came to Ujjain by car.

He was received by BJP leaders on his arrival in Ujjain. CM at the temple attended the Laghu Rudra ritual. Apart from him, BJP leader Uma Bharti also reached the rate of mahakal and offered prayers at baba's darshan. Madhya Pradesh Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Castes Welfare Minister Meena Singh also visited mahakal on the first Monday of Sawan. Let me tell you that Meena Singh is an MLA from Manpur Assembly in Umaria district.
