Mumbai: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has issued fresh orders to officials of Mumbai's emergency departments. In fact, last Sunday, he held an important meeting with the officials. In the meeting, Uddhav Thackeray took stock of the rain situation in Mumbai. He ordered that the rescue team be kept at the spot in view of the rain situation ahead. In addition, those living in dilapidated and at-risk buildings, areas under the hills should be shifted immediately.

The meeting was attended by Mumbai Municipal Commissioner, Municipal Officer, Chief Secretary of the State, Met Department officials and Railway Officials. The rains have picked up momentum since saturday night (July 18) night in the areas under the control of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Heavy rains have caused water logging at several places disrupting normal life. A portion of the boundary wall of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) collapsed over the slums of Bharat Nagar in Vashinaka area of Chembur due to heavy rains here.

Around 19 people have died so far after being buried under the debris due to the collapse of this wall. The rescue operation is still going on. A similar incident took place in Vikhroli. There was a landslide due to a hill in the middle of the houses and a large rock collapsed and the houses collapsed. Seven people were killed in the accident. Similarly, 1 person was killed when a wall collapsed in Bhandup. So far, 27 people have died in all the three incidents last Sunday. During the same meeting, Uddhav Thackeray has ordered the rescue team in Mumbai city to be kept at such a risk spot. In addition, risky and dilapidated buildings and settlements under the hills have been evacuated and people living there have been ordered to shift elsewhere in the rain.
