Lucknow: On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has planned to waive off the fees of one of the two sisters studying in a private school. Governor Anandiben Patel on Saturday transferred a scholarship of Rs 177.35 crore to 1.51 lakh, meritorious students of the state, at Lok Bhawan.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Yogi Adityanath appealed that if two sisters are studying together in private schools, one's fee should be waived. If private schools do not do so, the concerned department should make arrangements for the fees of a student. For this, nodal officers should be made at the district level. He said that a lot of people are unable to pay fees during the Corona period, which will help them. CM Yogi said the Uttar Pradesh government along with the Centre will not allow any person to be deprived of any kind of facility.

CM Yogi said that education up to graduation in government schools is already being imparted free of cost to promote girl child education. Speaking at a function to provide scholarships to 1,51,000 meritorious students in the state, CM Yogi said that scholarships should be given to all by November 30 this year. He asked the department to do the scholarship disbursement in mission mode. The scholarship that our state government is currently offering is Rs.3900 crores which were only Rs.1800 crores in the previous government.
