New Delhi: Mirabai Chanu’s coach Vijay Sharma is recommended by the selection committee for the Droncharya Award. Apart from Vijay Sharma the well Known veteran cricket coach Tarak Sinha's name is also among the seven recommended for this presitigeous award.

The list of seven recommended includes the name of Clarence Lobo (Hockey), Jeevan Sharma (Judo), CA Kuttappa (Boxing) along with Vijay and Sinha. The coach and father of ace Table Tennis player Achanta Sharath Kamal, Srinivasa Rao is also recommened for the Award.

Bharat Chetri (hockey), Satya Dev Prasad (archery), Dadu Chowgule (wrestling) and Bobby Aloysius (athletics) have been recommended for the Dhyan Chand Award.

Both Dronacharya and Dhyanchand are prestigious award which is given by the Indian government to the people who have contributed significantly in the Sports. The Dronacharya award is given by the Government of India for excellence in sports coaching whereas Dhyanchand award is honoured to sportspersons for their lifetime achievements and contribution to sport during their active career as well as post retirement.
