The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), an organization of telecom companies, on Sunday appealed to the Department of Telecom to relax the license condition for minimum extension of new network in any circle and extend the time limit from 6 to 9 months. Along with this, COAI says that it is very difficult to complete the MRO process during lockdown. If companies are fined because of this, then it would be wrong.
COAI wrote a letter
The COAI has written a letter to the Department of Telecommunications saying that we request the department to extend the deadline for starting the new network to at least 6 to 9 months. This will give companies some relief.
Department of Telecommunications has issued circulars
The Department of Telecommunications has banned registration and testing of companies starting networks through several circulars. It has now been postponed to 31 May due to Coronavirus.
MRO process is very complicated
The COAI has written a letter stating that the MRO process consists of a number of steps, including acquisitions, clearances from local bodies, interaction with state government-corporation officials, coordination with partners for self-testing, preparation of test reports and submission of them. Huh. Also, the letter further states that at present it is very difficult to complete this process.
