There is a threat of a shortage of coal in India. Even after record-breaking production, such a situation has arisen. There are 135 power plants in the country where coal is generated and government data shows that 18 of these plants have been completely exhausted, which means there is no coal stock. There are only 20 plants where a stock of 7 days or more is left.

The same was rejected by Union Energy Minister RK Singh at a press conference last Sunday. However, he did believe that earlier, where the plant used to have 17-17 days of stock, now there are only 4-5 days of stock. He had said that the threat would be removed soon. On the other hand, according to the data of the Ministry of Power, till October 12, there were 18 plants in India that did not have a single day's stock. On the other hand, 26 plants had only one day's stock remaining. However, 5 plants had a stock of more than 7 days and 15 only for more than 7 days.

The same situation is happening when this year Coal India Limited has produced a record-breaking production of coal. According to the news, from August to September this year, Coal India has produced 249.8 million tonnes of coal, which is 13.8 million tonnes more than the production in the same period last year. But why this crisis? So about this, the government says that after the second wave of Corona, the economy has improved, due to which the demand for electricity has increased rapidly. Simultaneously, the prices of coal coming from abroad increased, which affected imports.
