Now the central government has also admitted to the shortage of coal. However,  the central government says that there is no shortage of coal in UP, Punjab, but states like Andhra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu are definitely seeing a shortage of coal.

When union power minister R K Singh was asked about the shortage of coal, he replied that there is no shortage of coal in Punjab and UP. Rather, there is a problem of coal in Andhra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu. He said, there are different reasons behind the shortage of coal in these states. He said Tamil Nadu is dependent on imported coal. But in the recent past, the prices of imported coal have increased very fast. In such a situation, we have told Tamil Nadu that if you are dependent on imported coal, then import coal.

At the same time, there is a problem of coal in Andhra Pradesh also. There is a delay in delivering coal from the railways here. With this, there is a shortage of explosives in the coal plant in Andhra Pradesh. On this, R K Singh has said that due to the Ukraine-Russia war, there was a shortage of explosives. The Power Minister further said that the demand for coal in the country has increased very fast. "The total demand has increased by about 9 per cent. This time the demand for coal has increased as fast as it has never before. The reserve of coal in the country has decreased. From today, the country's coal reserve is 9 days remaining, earlier it used to last 14-15 days. It is true that the demand has increased. But the supply can't grow so fast.
