New Delhi: Public sector company Coal India is going to give a big festive gift to its employees. The company has decided to increase the performance-based reward (PLR) to Rs 72,500 for the company's employees this year. Coal India Ltd. (CIL) has announced a performance-based reward of Rs. 72,500 per employee for all its non-executive cadre employees for the financial year 2020-21.

Last year, coal India employees received a reward of Rs 68,000. According to media reports, Maharatna company said in a statement on Tuesday that performance-based rewards (PLR) will be paid by or before October 11, 2021. The company said, 'Coal India and its subsidiary Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. (SCCL) non-executive cadre employees will be given a PLR of Rs. 72,500 for the financial year 2020-21.'

The decision was taken at a bilateral meeting between representatives of central trade unions and management of Coal India and SCCL held on Monday. Coal India's integrated net profit rose 52.4 per cent to Rs 3,169.85 crores in the first quarter of the current fiscal. The company's profit has also increased as operating income increases. This led to the company earning a net profit of Rs 2,079.60 crores in the first quarter of the previous fiscal.
