Beijing, Today, In a tragic incident, a coal mine was flooded in southwest China's Guizhou Province due to which five persons were killed and two others went missing .
According to local officials, "the accident occurred when water from a nearby abandoned mine shaft flooded the Tiedingyan Coal Mine in Zheng'an County."
Eight of 15 safety inspectors who were then underground checking for potential safety hazards during the raining season managed to escape.
The rescue operation is under way, the country has been lashed by heavy rains during the past few days, said official.
