Abhishek Banerjee, the head of the Trinamool Congress, will go to Delhi on September 5 and is likely to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on September 6, according to media sources, igniting yet another political war in Bengal.

In the matter of coal smuggling, ED has summoned Abhishek. His wife was also contacted by the agency, but she asked that the agency interrogate her at her home because of the Covid-19 epidemic. Abhishek would "follow everything as per law," sources said, slamming the BJP for "political vendetta."
When notice of his summons arrived on August 28, Abhishek stated, "Those who believe we can be frightened by the ED and CBI, (should know) our battle will only increase."

He stated that the TMC will move to other states and fight for the people, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of destroying democracy. “Every state where democracy has been assassinated, TMC will go there and fight for the people. If the BJP believes we'll shut down, believe me when I say we won't be scared,” Abhishek added.
