New Delhi [India], Jan 15 (NT): The heavy cold wave and fog continued to stop railways, roadways, and airways transportation in Northern India on Monday.Various parts of North India, including Delhi and the adjoining National Capital Region, were enveloped in heavy fog as temperature remained low on Friday.

On Monday morning, a total of 39 trains, arriving in Delhi, were delayed, while four were rescheduled and 13 got cancelled. The passengers have been informed to check the train status of the train before undertaking their journey. The status of these trains will also be broadcast to the passengers on their respective registered mobile numbers. The fog makes the visibility very low and trains have to run at a highly-restricted speed to ensure the safety of the passengers which leads to considerable delays in the movement of trains. The status of these trains will be observed periodically keeping in view the strength of fog and decisions to restore some of the trains may be taken, as and when operationally feasible. The national capital Delhi had been experiencing chilling cold since this winter season.

Meanwhile, schools in Bihar have been closed till Saturday due to the current cold conditions. Many places in Jammu and Kashmir are facing sub-zero temperatures. The Dal Lake in Srinagar city has frozen at many places.(NT)
