New Delhi: Harley-Davidson and domestic automaker Hero MotoCorp have joined hands to produce a range of new motorcycles.By the end of March 2024, India will be able to buy a 350cc motorcycle that was jointly developed.

The upcoming two-wheeler, which will compete with Royal Enfield's models in our country, is currently in an advanced stage of development.

The Hero-Harley tie-up has proved to be hugely beneficial for the latter. It currently boasts of a large dealer and after-sales network and has been posting respectable sales as well.

In India, Harley-Davidson currently dominates the market for bikes with 1,000 cc or more. Sales would increase even further once it was introduced to the rapidly growing middleweight market.
Competition in the market will undoubtedly intensify.

Hero and Harley together creating a new platform

Describing the company's future plans, Hero MotoCorp Chief Financial Officer Niranjan Gupta said, "Over the next two years, you will see models in the volume and profitable premium segment, as well as the platform we are developing together with Harley." "
It is to be noted that Harley-Davidson will make a comeback in the middleweight motorcycle market with the upcoming 350cc bike.

350cc bike structure

The upcoming motorcycle that will be jointly developed is expected to sport a retro look with distinctive design cues from Harley-Davidson.
Though the technical details have not been made public yet, it will be placed on the platform which is jointly developed by Hero and Harley.

To retain its high-end appeal, the two-wheeler is expected to be sold only by Harley dealerships. However, till date, it will be the cheapest offering from the brand in the country.

 Currently there are 11 Harley-Davidson models available for purchase in India: Iron 883, Fat Boy 114, Sportster S, Street Glide Special, Nightster, Pan America 1250, Fat Bob, Heritage Classic, Road Glide Special and Road King.

Road Glide Special is the highest priced bike at Rs. 37.17 Lakh, whereas the lowest priced bike is Iron 883.

Hero MotoCorp currently offers 14 motorcycles in the Indian market. These include the HF Deluxe, HF 100, Glamour, Xtreme 160R, Xtreme 200S, XPulse 200 4V and XPulse 200T. These also include Splendor + and Splendor + XTEC.
