On Friday, the Vaishali district administration dismissed reports that it claimed to be a corpse of a Covid-19 patient with a half-dead body being scratched by crows and stray dogs.

In a video viral on social media, it was shown that crows and stray dogs are scratching a corpse. The news of this video was also aired by local news channels and it was said that the corpse belonged to a 35-year-old man, who was found dead at the Quarantine centre.

District Magistrate Udita Singh said in her statement, these are misleading and mischievous claims. The half-dead body is definitely not a Covid-19 patient, although we are not able to identify the body. Following the rumours, officers were sent to the spot and the cremated body was cremated. After returning from Delhi, the person was kept in the Quarantine Center of the Ambedkar Hostel, where his body was found hanging from the roof. According to local media, the residents of Konhara Ghat alleged that the funeral of the person was done on Wednesday night very carelessly as police and administration officials feared infection.
