All medical colleges in Tamil Nadu (TN), both undergraduate and postgraduate students, are reopening from today 7 December 2020, after a pause of nearly nine months amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The TN government has also resumed in-person classes for the undergraduate final year students in all colleges and universities. Colleges had earlier reopened for the postgraduate students.
As colleges resume operations, the attendance has been kept optional and colleges would continue online classes for the students who cannot or do not wish to attend in-person classes. Meantime, the Tamil Nadu government also issued the guidelines and Standard of procedures in connection with safety measures to be followed for the reopening of universities, colleges and hostels.
Under the guidelines, the colleges would be required to keep up the strict procedure in regards to sanitization of the classrooms and common areas. compulsory thermal scanning at entry points, social distancing and wearing of marks would also be ensured. Apart from this, the number of students permitted to be seated in a classroom has been limited. College authorities have to ensure notices at prominent places informing students about the basic hygiene steps.
