There is a need to revolutionize the judiciary to keep the common man's service worthwhile. This comment was made by senior judge of the Supreme Court, Ranjan Gogoi on Thursday. He emphasized that the judiciary should be more proactive and go ahead and play a role. Here, Justice Gogoi was speaking on the subject 'Jyodika Vishya' on Thursday in the memory of third Ramnath Goenka.
He said, the judiciary was 'the last fort of hope' and was the guardian of the great constitutional approach. This institution has been endowed with great social trust. He also said that independent journalists and sometimes vocal judges have proved to be the primary defence line of democracy. He said that in the first 50 years of independence, the courts created a very strong jurisprudence, which we are now benefiting from.
Justice Gogoi is the claimant of becoming Chief Justice. At present, Gogoi, the second-highest judge of the Supreme Court, is presently considered as a possible successor of the current Chief Justice Deepak Mishra, on October 2, after retirement, according to seniority. Justice Gogoi on January 12, Justice J. Together with Chelameswar, MB Lokur and Kurien Joseph, had a controversial press conference, in which serious allegations were made against Chief Justice Mishra.
