Just two days left to start the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and hopes are high from India’s 225 athletic contingents for the quadrennial games. From olden times, it’s an event where Indian athletes across all disciplines have always done well.

 Here are Top 5 female contenders for glory in Gold Coast:

1. PV Sindhu(Badminton)

Sindhu's ascent in the course of recent years has incorporated that historic point silver award at the Rio Olympics and affirmed her as the ruler-shuttler of Indian badminton. Sindhu's greatest test could come as Michelle Li and Kristy Glamor who won the gold and silver decoration separately in the past release of the Commonwealth Games. Sindhu won a bronze decoration in Glasgow four years back and would hope to better it in Gold Coast. Sindhu, who will also be the flag-bearer for the Indian contingent, is the awe-inspiring favourite for gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

2.Sakshi Malik (Wrestling)

Four years ago in Glasgow, Sakshi declared her remarkable entrance on the global stage by winning a silver medal. Two years later at the Rio Olympics, she became the first Indian woman wrestler to clinch a medal. In 2017 she won gold at the Commonwealth World Championships but she was crashed out in the first round of the World Wrestling Championship .India will be looking to make things right in Gold Coast.

3.Mary Kom (Boxing)

She’s back for one final thrive and the well-known boxer would look at the Gold Coast CWG as a medal at the Commonwealth Games is missing from her remarkable medal haul from all over the world.

  Worth mention here this is Mary Kom’s last shot as she is the age of 35. In her return to competitive boxing last year, she reclaim her title of Asian champion by beating Hyang Mi Kim in the 48kg final to win her fifth gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championships.

4.Saina Nehwal (Badminton)

 

Saina the Hyderabad shuttler still is one of the best contenders despite of Injuries and indifferent form in the past 18 months. In 2017, she won a bronze medal at the World Championships, a Grand Prix Gold and her third national title where she beat P.V. Sindhu 21-17, 27-25 in the final.

5.Manu Baker  (Shooting)

ISSF World Cup debutant Manu Bhaker marked her international debut with the gold in the women's 10m Air Pistol final. Manu Bhaker is the youngest sports shooter from India to win two Gold medals in Women's shooting ISSF World Cup 2018, Guadalajara Mexico in 10 m Air Pistol. Now she is all set to making her Commonwealth Games debut in the 10m Air Rifle event.
