Betul: By today all of you may have heard about bonded labourers, but under the recent information, labourers were made bonded in Karnataka. Yes, 12 labourers have been rescued from a stone crusher and brought to Betul. According to the information received, an agent had sent these villagers to Karnataka where they were not being paid wages and were being bonded and taken to work. The labourers were upset and called the helpline number of an NGO and sought help, only then did they get rid of the captivity.

The labourers who were released from the hostage are said to be from Village Dadari in Bhimpur tehsil. The workers said local agent Sansu Karoche had sent them to Bangalore in Karnataka about 20 days ago after pretending to provide them employment. After that, they were given an advance amount of wages, and everyday wages and food were promised, but in 20 days they were not paid any wages. They were given only food and worked on a stone crusher for 12 to 13 hours.

10,000 per worker was being demanded by the hostage company when the workers expressed their desire to come back to their village. Amidst all this, somehow the labourers lodged a complaint with the helpline number of Jan Sahadra Sanstha. Finally, the institute approached the Collector SP and the police officers and the Jan Sahadra Sanstha together rescued the hostage labourers.
