New Delhi: The Samsung S23 Ultra is scheduled to be unveiled on February 1 along with the Galaxy S23 and S23+. Even though the S23 Ultra's launch is just a few days away, its full specifications have already leaked online, leaving little room for speculation. Here, we contrast the S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra's specifications to identify the main variations.

S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra are the three models in Samsung's flagship Galaxy S23 series. In India, pre-orders for the phones are now being taken. Regarding the S22 Ultra from a year ago, users praised the device for its cutting-edge style, strong cameras, and superior performance. The new S23 Ultra is receiving some improvements, but will they be sufficient to draw customers given the increased competition

The S22 Ultra has a handsome appearance thanks to its boxy design and high-quality construction. What needs to change, then? Actually, not much, and Samsung and I kind of think alike. The S23 Ultra will be slightly thicker (233g vs. 228g) and wider (163.4x78.1x8.9mm vs. 163.3x77.9x8.9mm) than the S22 Ultra.
It will have four colours, IP68 water resistance, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

The S22 Ultra has one of the best smartphone displays ever, and based on the most recent leaks, Samsung may use the same display on the S23 Ultra as well. A 6.8-inch QHD+ (3088x1440 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz and HDR10+ will be featured in the top-tier S23 Ultra. Additionally, the phone will provide Always-on Display functionality.

The S22 Ultra is equipped with a 108MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, two 10MP telephoto lenses, and a 10x optical zoom. It has a 40MP front-facing camera. A new 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main camera with improved pixel binning technology will be included with the S23 Ultra model. While the other cameras will not change, the selfie camera will now have a 12MP sensor.

A Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, 12GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of internal storage power the S22 Ultra. A Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, along with 8GB/12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB onboard memory, will power the S23 Ultra. The upcoming device will have a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired fast-charging, similar to the S22 Ultra.

The S23 Ultra's leaked specifications indicate that it won't represent a significant improvement over the S22 Ultra. A new main camera, some software features, and the usual chipset upgrade. Samsung is gladly advancing outdated technologies, while other Android flagship smartphones are raising the bar with 165Hz displays and 100W or higher fast-charging. What happened to innovation, one wonders.
