Compensation to farmers affected by hailstorm: Madhya Pradesh Government

In a move to gain the trust of the farmers ahead of the state assembly election in Madhya Pradesh, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured the farmers to provide compensation for crops destroyed due to hailstorm recently. 

Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the farmers from the affected areas on Friday. The farmers had incurred huge losses due to the hailstorm. He assured them of compensation for the loss. He immediately directed the officials to ascertain the crop damage with transparency.

“Teams conducting a survey of the affected villages should consist of officials of agriculture and panchayat department, revenue department, sarpanchs, panchs and other public representatives so that farmers do not have any complaints with the crop loss estimation,” he informed.

About 984 villages were affected from the hailstorm which occurred recently. Sehore district was affected by rains and hailstorms a few days back. Apart from this, the CM also announced Rs 25000 aid to farmers for marrying off their daughters and education of their children will be funded by the government.

The CM spoke about Farm Productivity Scheme and its implementation in an effort to recognize and reward their hard work.  He also distributed certificates for the Bhavanter Payment Scheme under which Rs 620 crores have been given to 3,98,000 farmers.
