Conditional ceasefire during Ramzan in Jammu and Kashmir

On Wednesday, the Union government announced a conditional ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir during Ramzan. Centre in a statement said that it is crucial to isolate the forces those who bring a bad name to Islam. 

Indian Government expects that Indians should cooperate in this noble initiative. This can help the Muslim brothers and sisters to observe Ramzan peacefully. 

According to the reports, the Center has asked the security forces to stop their investigations during Ramzan's thirty days. 

By welcoming the Centre's decision, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti said that this will help in "creating a peaceful and amicable environment for a sustainable dialogue" reports TOI.

Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti took to Tweet and wrote, "I wholeheartedly welcome the Ramadan ceasefire and would like to thank Narendra Modi ji and Rajnath Singh ji for their personal intervention. My gratitude also to the leaders and parties who participated in the All Party Meeting and helped build consensus towards this announcement,"


Earlier in this month, Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti had urged the Centre to consider a unilateral ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir. This unilateral ceasefire will be starting from Ramzan in mid-May till the completion of the Amarnath yatra in August.
