Bhopal: Bus and city vans stopped running on the roads due to lockdown. But now, permission is being given in view of the situation. On Friday, the Madhya Pradesh government has issued orders to operate the buses. Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department SN Mishra has directed all the District Collector and Police Administration, including the Transport Commissioner, for the normal operation of passenger buses in all the districts including Bhopal. According to the order, passenger buses will be operated only in the state. Buses are not allowed to run on interstate routes.

On the other hand, the bus operators have refused to follow the orders of the Home Department. In this regard, President of MP Prime Route Association Govind Sharma has said that till the tax is waived by the government from April to September (total six months), the wheels of 35 thousand buses will remain stopped in the state. After meeting in Bhopal on Monday, the final decision will be taken with the consent of all the operators. The bus operator Surendra Tanwani told that till our demands are met, we will not run the buses.

After the portfolios of ministers are divided, the government can take some policy decisions in view of bus operators adamant on increasing taxes, tax fares to start operating buses. On June 14, the government had issued an order to start operating buses by sitting 50% passengers in the remaining divisions of the state except Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain divisions, but the bus operators still insisted on the demand of tax exemption.
